Lenkeilläkin on lupauduttu käymään.
Hienoja onnistumisia on kisoissakin tullut, mutta läheskään kaikkeen en ole tyytyväinen. Kuitenkin muutama ns. hyvä suorituskin on tultu tehtyä, joista kokosin tähän teille parhaat;
7.6. tuli kisattua Virvikissä aikamoisella onnistumisella, kun käteen jäi voitto, oma rataennätys sekä parhaiten reitattu kisakiessi.
5.-6.7. tuli kisailtua sekaparien SM-kisoissa voitokkaasti.

A wonderful season – Looking back on 2019
This year started with the big surprise of me joining Team NBDG. I was and still am exited and thankful for the support they have given to me. Tournament wise my season started with two C-Tiers in Germany in March and April. I won both, despite the cold, windy and even snowy conditions.

Next was the Dutch Open, where I battled with Maris Perendi and Tabea Wallus. Kristin Tattar was playing in a different league, which was wonderful to watch. There, in Rotterdam, Maris told me, that she has Kristin down to win the 2019 USWDGC, which she did. So no surprise on my end. She really had an amazing year. So congrats, again.

After Dutch Open, I played the Luna Cup at my home course and then the famous Kokkedal Open in Denmark. I have been trying to get into that tournament for years and finally this time I made it. Once again, the girls placing above me all came from one country (Estonia). They must have something in the water there, that helps you play better. Kristin beet me again by almost 30 strokes, and the other two by almost 20. Kokkedal was worth the wait though, the courses are divers, challenging and beautiful at the same time. I just still miss my black halo, that I threw in the swamp at hole 15 at the wool course. Sad, sad, sad and a little stupid of me!

The next big event, after the Berlin Open was our family trip to Tyyni. This week in Finnland, the beautiful courses and the amount of pro players, that my kids had only seen in videos, had a huge impact on my children. My kids had so much fun and would not let me go rest. After two practice rounds they would make me go play the course they had found. And since the sun is up all night during Tyyni, they would have been throwing discs 24 hours, had we let them.

Worlds 2019 Peoria
My HIGHLIGHT of this year was the World Championships in Peoria, USA. I got there, just in time to play the doubles event on the side of Simon Lizotte. The only rule, that Simon set for us, was not to apologize. In round one, this was easy to do (well except to my drive at hole 18), but we still shot a good -7. In the second round however, both Simon and I were not able to play the way we did before. Playing alternate, Simon made me go deep into the rough a couple times and I, again, did not make a good drive at hole 18. But, I had a great time, got to know some awesome people (thanks for the fun second round Missy Gannon and Chris Clemons) and it was a perfect way to start the Worlds-week.
Then the real tournament started and I got to play my first two rounds with Lisa Fajkus and the first three with Holly Finley. I played solid golf for the first three days, missing a put here and there but also caching one in from way outside once in a while. In the fourth round, I got to play with the raining world champion Paige Bjerkaas, Madison Walker and again, Haily King, I kind of lost my focus and started to think. This should not happen, when you are trying to make the cut. But it is all part of life and learning.

And now?
2019 is over, at least my disc golf season is over. It was a great year for me with many firsts, like playing in the US or Worlds. I have not had a chance to compete or even throw my discs since the German Championships, mainly due to work or disc golf related work, like taking care of the finances of my home club. But it does not mean, that I am not working towards another great season. A while ago, the list for the direct qualifications for the European Championships was released. I did not get a spot right a way, but I have the first Waiting-List spot and am hoping to get a national team spot. I am so exited to come back to Konopiste. I loved the course, but the last/only time I played it, I was really sick and could barely walk up and down the course. So I have still to settle with the course.
I hope to see many of you out on the courses around the World, well Europe for me! Have fun playing and spreading disc golf!
Cheers, Antonia

Disc Golf Clinics at my home course in Potsdam: Beginner or advanced, taster for starters or frequent practice for those, who are already hacked. Teaching is my passion and has always been something that makes me happy. I have seen many of the participants on the course, again, so some of it seams to stick.

The main season is over, with a lot of good (and bad) memories, throws, new and old friends and so much more. But for many of us our heads is already looking forward to next year, looking to hunt more perfect flights on the course. But how?
Here is my 5 best tips on how to prepare in the off season.
1. Evaluate
One of the essential things on the path to improvement, is to know where you are. That way, you can see where you need to focus more on, to achieve the goals you have.
What I do is that I take 15-20 minutes to mentally go through the season: my practice, my competitions, my work outside the competitions and so on. Did I met my expectations? What did I do well? What can I improve on? What part of my game was my strength? What part of my game was my weakness? Where did I see improvement from month to month?
Taking notes from this session will give me some good ideas on where I am, and make prepping for 2020 much easier.
2. Set goals
Now that you have spent some time knowing where you are in your game, you should try to figure out where you want to be. Was you 2019 season just what you wanted? Perfect, keep doing what you are doing! Do you want more for you 2020 season? Then the goals you set will show you the way, and keep you true to your path. My goals is usually set up to increase my strengths, and to help my remember to focus on areas I want to improve on. Usually I set one or two main goals, and over time I add, review and adjust subgoals along the way.
3. Build your body
If you are like me you LOVE to throw. And in season that is also where the most amount of time is used, throwing. But disc golf is really hard on the body, and the off season brings less conditions for throwing and more for training and building body. I HIGHLY suggest checking out Disc Golf Strong, bringing athleticism into the sport. This is where you can get your total workout to prevent injury and prepare it for the coming season, for ams and pros alike.
4. Get ready for 2020
Arguably one of the best things about Christmas, is looking forward to Christmas. How about making the 2020 the same? You know what events you loved playing, and what you really want to attend next year. Get your calendar updated with dates or estimated times, as well as when registration starts. May I suggest putting
Tyyni on your calendar…
5. Have fun!
Now this might go without saying – but the off season is a great time to have fun. Try new things, like joining a putting league, look for some indoor training, or maybe checking out ultimate? And if those options don`t float your boat, there is always fantastic disc golf coverage on Youtube, like Jomez, CCDG or SM Disc Golf.
Have a great off season people, lets make the best out of it!

Disc golf for me is the search of a perfect flight.
Being a part of this is an opportunity to grow, as a person, as a disc golfer and as a promoter.

2019 started very windy, cold and wet. March 16th -17th I played the 7. RennbahnPark Open in Neuss. Beside the weather, I can say, that I had a solid start into this season. The course was long (21 holes) and we played two full round each Saturday and Sunday. After three rather good round, the cold, wind and rain got the best of me in the last round. I think I was just exhausted from the 5 rounds (incl. practice and doubles round), so I lost my focus. Good thing, that I have build up a solid lead, so I still finished 1st.
The best thing about starting a tournament in this condition, after changing main parts of the bag, is, that I now know all my disc way better than before.
Who knows me on the course, knows that I rarely throw midranges. That kind of changed after Neuss. I find myself going to the Anchore much more, since that tournament. I learned to trust it and I am sure it is staying in my bag for quite a while now. I also fell in love with my new putters (Shields in BT soft), which keep the grip even in the rain.
After Neuss, I had some weeks of, until last weekend. I used the perfect weather (partly up to 20°C) for some practice rounds and field work.
April 12th, I went to the Roderbruch Open II in Hannover. It was a „small“ one day event, where we played three rounds each 15 holes. The first two rounds were played without a break. The snow and hail at 4°C did not help, so the „first“ 30 holes were quite though. It did not feel like good golf to me, but at the end, I managed to end up in first, again. Hugh shout out to Maike Janiesch for giving me such a strong fight.
In between my tournaments, working and practicing, I started to give weekly disc golf lessons each Monday evening for the next 12 weeks. The course just started, but it has already been quite some fun. It might even become a regular thing.
Last weekend I played the Dutch Open, the first stop of the Euro Tour 2019. The weather was perfect, low wind with sunshine at 25°C. My start was okay, second and third round were quite good. As 2016 I finished in 3rd place (tied with Tabea Wallus), this time behind Kristin Tattar and Maris Perendi, who played well above their rating the hole tournament.

I hope to keep my game on a high level, like the last weeks. Putting usually is a strong part of my game, but it has not been so much in the last tournaments. My drives have been on point though. Hope it comes all together, soon.
Next stop is my home course Potsdam with the Luna Cup and then I will be back on the Tour, playing Kokkedal Open and Tyyni and hopefully the Worlds.
By the way, I am trying to raise some money for my trip to the World Championships in Peoria, this August. If you like to help me visit www.sponsor.me/AntoniaFaber I am grateful for every Euro or Dollar! Fundraising is open until May 14th. Thanks to everyone and see hopefully you on the courses around the world.
